Born and raised in San Diego, CA, Elena Buenrostro's drone journey began on the Great Wall of China, where she hiked and documented her experience with a drone. This adventure unveiled a new perspective and ignited her passion for aerial photography and videography, motivating Elena to become a Part 107 FAA Licensed Drone Pilot. As she continued capturing the world from above, numerous women reached out to her for advice on starting their drone journeys, highlighting a significant gender gap in this emerging technological field.

In response to this need for greater awareness, knowledge, and connectivity among women in the drone community, Elena founded Women Who Drone® in October 2017. This online community is dedicated to inspiring, educating, and empowering women and girls through drone technology.
